In this super exciting and suspenseful summer workshop, kids will immerse themselves in espionage. They will learn how to write top- secret messages in code, effectively shadow a target, develop eagle-eye observational skills and create fun spy devices. They will immerse themselves in the world of espionage through role playing, games and hands-on creative activities to fill their spy case with secret-agent spy devices. Add some, electrical circuits and switches and who knows what groovy gadgets these advanced spies will be able to create.

Our young puppet makers will create a variety of hand puppets, finger puppets, marionettes and shadow puppets using a variety of materials and techniques. They will learn basic hand puppet manipulation, develop voice skills for puppet personalities and perform dialogue for scenes from skits created by them. Students will recreate stories they’ve read or develop their very own. They will also build their own puppet stage, so they can perform their shows at home. What a great way to creatively set their imagination free.

This class is for your fabric artist, fashionista, or those who simply want to learn how to sew with a sewing machine. . In this class, your child will learn to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, and draw with stitches. This workshop is intended to teach your beginner sewer to follow lines, control the machine and trigger their interest in creating a variety of projects, incorporating hand sewing, machine sewing, embroidery, and detailing adornments. Laser cutters, CNC, scroll saws, drill press and sanders are just a few of the tools kids will use to design and construct unique wooden creations such as a whirligigs, treasure box or other desired products. The first and most important learning this week is safety and responsible handling of equipment. Kids will be challenged to refine measurement skills, learn how to design for laser cutting and use software to program a CNC machine. They will learn different joining techniques and how to incorporate mechanical parts for movement, such as hinges, clasps, and moving parts for a whirligig. They will also utilize finishing techniques such as sanding, staining and sealing for a beautiful finished product.

Kids in this summer workshop will learn about the engineering advancements made in that era, as well as make models of some of the most infamous engineering feats of the times: ballistic devices, cranes, etc. They will use a variety of tools such as the laser cutter, 3D printer and small wood working equipment and materials to complete their own mechanical engineering feats.
